WHERE: Colchester, Essex

Returning for 2026, the Sherpa Performance Spring Stage Race brings back two exciting stage races in and around Colchester, Essex this April:

1. Masters 40+ Stage Race – for riders aged 40 and over of any racing category.

2. Regional 2/3/4 Stage Race – open to riders in categories 2, 3, 4 (including eligible juniors) and female riders of any category.

Each stage race consists of four stages across two days, offering competitive racing. British Cycling points per stage and for the overall will be available, with leader jerseys for the general classification and sprint classifications. The Masters race also includes a special award (the Brad Lamb Trophy) for the best rider aged 50+.

Entry Fees (Tiered)

• Early Bird: £95 until 21st Feb 2026
• Standard: £110 from 22nd Feb to 27th Mar 2026
• Late Entry: £130 from 28th Mar to 6th Apr 2026

Stage 1 & 2 - Circuit Races

On the first day of racing, each stage race will have two 60 minute circuit races around the 1-mile Colchester Northern Gateway Sports park. The purpose-built circuit is one of the longest cycle tracks in the UK and will produce aggressive racing, with each stage a different direction around the course.

Masters 40+ Stage Race

• Stage 1: Criterium - 09:00 (1 hr)
• Stage 2: Criterium - 13:00 (1 hr)

Regional 2/3/4 Stage Race

• Stage 1: Criterium - 10:30 (1 hr)
• Stage 2: Criterium - 14:30 (1 hr)

Stage 3 - Time Trial

On the Sunday, the third stage will be a 6km road bike only time trial on a different course to usual on the Abberton Reservoir, this could be the difference between winning or losing general classification places.

Stage 4 - Road Race

After the time trial, both stage races will have a road race around Abberton Reservoir, which is one of Europe’s top Wetland sites. Each race will have 4 laps around the 18.2km circuit which goes through Great Wigborough, Peldon, Langenhoe, Abberton and Layer de la Haye. Each time across the line there will be green jersey points on offer.
